View Funeral WebcastMr. James H. "Papa Dog" Eddlemon, 67, owner and operator of Wayside Inn and resident of Hampton Road, died Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Donna Higgenbotham and Ronnie Thurman officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Fruit of the Vine, P. O. Box 1074, Columbia, TN 38402. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Horace Eddlemon and Pauline Carroll Eddlemon. He was a graduate of Hay Long High School, a former insurance agent, and a member of Fruit of the Vine. Mr. Eddlemon was an avid golfer and played baseball throughout his youth and as a young adult. He was a member of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife of forty-six years, Sheila Henderson Eddlemon of Columbia; two sons, Jeffrey (Tammy) Eddlemon and Chris Eddlemon, both of Columbia; one sister, Pat (Bobby) Fite of Williamsport; two brothers, Larry (Linda) Eddlemon of Hixson; Charles (Patti) Eddlemon of Dexter, Michigan; three grandchildren, Kristy Tidwell, Jacob Eddlemon, Jerred Eddlemon; and one great grandchild, Alyssa Tidwell. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth Eddlemon, Loyd Eddlemon, and Ricky Eddlemon. Pallbearers will be Tommy Elliott, Eugene Whitley, Tommy Smith, Patrick Meredith, Ray Thompson, and Johnny Brooks. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Fruit of the Vine and friends and patrons of Wayside Inn.
