James Edward "Eddie" Howell

James Edward “Eddie” Howell, 54, employee of Sims Cabinet Company and resident of Highview Drive, died Thursday, September 27, 2018 at NHC Columbia. A memorial service will be conducted Sunday, October 21, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Reverend Jeffrey L. Kane and Reverend Wilson Henderson officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the church. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements. The family suggests memorials be made to the Compass Group at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2800 Trotwood Avenue, Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born December 6, 1963 in Maury County, he was the son of James Houston Howell, Jr. and Alma Ann Anderson Walters both of Columbia. He was a 1981 graduate of Long Beach High School in Long Beach, Mississippi, where he was president of his class. An avid youth mentor, he loved working with children, driving the school bus for Long Beach High School, working at Magnolia Academy and Broadmoor Baptist Church in Mississippi. For several years, he also worked for Harrison County Sheriff Department. Eddie enjoyed cooking, LSU football, and especially loved singing. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. In addition to his parents, survivors include his step-mother, Doris Howell of Columbia; sister, Christy Henson of Columbia; step-sister, Dawn (Bobby) Barton of Irving, Texas; sister-in-law, Rita Ingram; nephews, Kane (Amy) Henson; David (Lenisha) Henson; Chase Ingram; Jessie Williams; great nieces, Kaecyn Henson; Kinsley Henson; great nephews, Gage Henson; Huck Henson; and special friends, Gabriel Alamazan; Anthony and Cindy Sims and family; Reverend Jeffery L. Kane; Reverend Wilson and Charlene Henderson; Compass Kids; and Felix the therapy dog. He was preceded in death by his brother, Samuel Terrell Ingram; and step-sister, Ginger R. Williams.
