James Elmer Lee, 88, of Greens Mill Road in Spring Hill, died Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Maury Regional Medical Center. A graveside service will be conducted Saturday at 11:30 A.M. at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. The Maury County native was the son of Elmer Lee and Edna Gilliam Lee. He attended Mynders School. He worked 24 years for Lovell’s Masonry. He worked 10 years for Step Lively Guys. After retiring, he stayed busy with gardening and yard work. He became the “Tomato Man.” Survivors include his wife, whom he married, December 22, 1961, Martha Jean Butler of Carter’s Creek Community; sisters, JoAnn (Guy) Davis of South Daytona, Florida; Mary Paul (John) Sweeney of Columbia; nieces, Kim Garrett (David) Park of Lewisburg; ; Pamela Sue Garrett (Mitch) Newman of Lewisburg; Mia Davis (Jeff) Lawrence of Orange City, Florida; nephews, Mark (Debbie) Davis of Knoxville; Timothy Sweeney of Columbia; Troy (Leigh) Sweeney of Kingston, Tn. ; several great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sue Garrett. Active pallbearers will be Jason Gilliam, Chris Henkel, Hollis Moore, Charles Lee, Ed “Turtle” Lee, Roger Gilliam, and David Gilliam.
