MR. JAMES W. ESTES. SR.Mr. James William Estes, Sr., 75, retired heavy equipment operator and resident of Morrow Branch Road in Lynnville, died Saturday, May 2, 2003 at Maury Regional Hospital.Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 12:00 Noon at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Bob Vassar officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19 and the Central High School Navy ROTC Color Guard. The family will visit with friends Monday and Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com.The Maury County native was the son of the late Marcus Vircarrow Estes and Bessie Hines Estes. He served in the U. S. Army, was constable of the 9th Civil District and served as a Deputy during the term of Sheriff Flo Fleming. He was a member of the Allensville Baptist Church and Operating Engineers Local #369 in Nashville.Survivors include four daughters, Judy Baker and Sara (Randy) Bridwell, both of Columbia, Brenda (Ted) Roop of Spring Hill, Barbara (Joey) Craighead of Lebanon; a son, James W. (Charlsie) Estes, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant; a sister, Betty Ann (Bobby) Haywood of Mt. Pleasant; a brother, Marcus (Ann) Estes of Madison Heights, Michigan; twelve grandchildren, Amanda (Brian) Farrell, Chad (Leigh Ann) Fletcher, Elizabeth Estes, Honey Love, Tiffany Baker, Dustin Chatman, Felicia Bridwell, Michelle Estes, Eric Baker, Katie Estes, Marcus Baker, Tanya Jo Craighead; four step-grandchildren, Jenny (Tim) Hurst, Dennis Roop, Mary Roop, Laura Roop; two step-great-grandchildren, Brett Kelly, Gracy Hurst.He was preceded in death by his former wife, Betty Lou Brady Estes; four sisters, Alberta Vernon, Pauline Hedrick, Margaret Foster, Louise Estes and a brother, Charles Estes.Active pallbearers are Dennis Roop, Chad Fletcher, Dustin Chatman, Pete Blackwell, Kirk Marks, Bryon Brady, Marcus Baker, Brett Kelly. Honorary pallbearers include employees of Lewisburg Livestock; staff and physicians of the Oncology Group at Maury Regional Hospital, The Heart Group at St. Thomas Hospital, staff of Max Life Home Health Care, members of Operating Engineers Local #369, Walt and Linda Balben, Dr. Eslick Daniel, Thomas Williams
