James R Gardner

James Rufus Gardner James Rufus Gardner, 83, retired farmer and resident of Blue Branch Road in Lynnville, died Thursday, January 26, 2006, at Columbia Care & Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Milton Stephens officiating. Burial will be in Gibsonville Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Williamson County native was the son of the late Henry Daniel Gardner and Katie Carter Gardner. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II where he received a Purple Heart. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include one brother, Oliver (Virginia) Gardner of Vallejo, California; several nieces and nephews, including Kay (Al) Luttrell of Columbia; and special friend and neighbor, Libby (Jimmy) Thomason of Lynnville. He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Gardner, two sisters, Avie Claiborne and Emma Pulley. Pallbearers will be Nate Luttrell, Jimmy Thomason, Mike Thomason, Scott Thomason, Jeff Thomason, and Steven Ramsey.
