James Daniel "Dan" Hardison, Sr., 84, longtime resident of North Laurel Circle, died Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be conducted Monday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with John Vaughan and Wendell Robinson officiating. Congregational singing will be lead by Andrew Phillips. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 -8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Born February 7, 1932 in Marshall County, he was the son of the late Robert Lee Hardison and Mattie Lee Barron Hardison. He married Jean Marie Hardison Hardison on November 10, 1951 who preceded him in death November 1, 2015. Mr. Hardison started working for Monsanto Chemical Company in 1952 as an electrician and retired after more than 30 years of service. Later he started Columbia Alarm Company and Hardison Electronics. He loved to travel, tell jokes, and spend time with his family and friends. Mr. Hardison was a member of Graymere Church of Christ. Survivors include his sons, James Daniel (Patty) Hardison, Jr. of Wilmington, North Carolina; Randy Wayne (Rhonda) Hardison of Spring Hill; daughters, Julie Marie (Buddy) Jones of Columbia; Janet Lynn (Herb) Smith of Cookeville; grandchildren, Kris Hardison, Carmen (Jimmy) Ford, Amber (Kit) Peden, Jessica (Alan) Connelly, Alison (Bryan) Patton, and Sam (Callie) Hardison; step-grandchildren, Jessica White, Jonathan White, and Kevin Jones; great grandchildren, Porter Ford, Harper Ford, Tuff Peden, Olli Peden, Lawson Kelley, Finn Patton, Dacey Jones, and Hayden Jones; brother, Roy Lane Hardison of Myrtle Beach, S. C. ; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Thompson, Mari Jo Hindman; and brother, John Lee Hardison. Active pallbearers will be Herb Smith, Buddy Jones, Kit Peden, Jimmy Ford, Tommy Stanfill, Tony Sowell, and John Markham. Honorary pallbearers include Will Frank Woody, Clifton Kelley, Don Howell, Don Stockton, Jake Caskey, Freda Jones, and retired employees of Monsanto Chemical Company.
