James Harold Rippy

Beloved father and grandfather, James Harold Rippy, 78, retired construction worker and resident of Highland Rim Drive, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2018 at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care Center.             Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 7:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with John Vaughan officiating.  The family will visit with friends Thursday from 3:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.              The family suggests memorials to Habitat for Humanity Williamson-Maury, 511 West Meade Blvd., Franklin, TN 37064 or Columbia Academy, 1101 West Seventh Street, Columbia, TN 38401.  Condolences and treasured memories may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.             Born May 6, 1940 in Lawrence County, he was the son of the late James Edgar Rippy and the late Mable Christine Hagan Rippy.   Mr. Rippy was a longtime carpenter for Habitat for Humanity and had worked twelve years as Facilities Manager at Columbia Academy.  He was a member of the Church of Christ.             Survivors include his children, Tanyel (Buford) Moss of Columbia, Randy (Lisa) Rippy of Canton, MS, Daren K. Rippy of Franklin; grandchildren, Ashton Rummage, Tyler Rippy, Rebecca Rummage, Tucker Rippy, Hailey Rippy, Anna Rippy, Lily Rippy, Harrison Rippy, Adam (Tori) Moss, Seth (Shelsea) Moss, Hannah (Jaylen) Byrd, Trace Cronk, Samantha Cronk; seven great grandchildren; mother of his children, Irma Rippy; brothers, Glynn Rippy, Terry Rippy; sister, Sonya Rippy, and several nieces & nephews.             Honorary pallbearers will include Carter Hill, Butch Shrader, Rick Barker, Don Westmoreland, Zach Kittrrell, Landon Rummage, former CA co-workers, and former Habitat for Humanity co-workers.
