James Wilson Lentz

Mr. James Wilson Lentz, 82, retired from the U. S. Air Force and former resident of Birchwood Drive, died Sunday, October 23, 2005 at Life Care Center. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 12:00 Noon at Oakes & Nichols with Daniel Edwards officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the U. S. Air Force Honor Guard. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the son of the late Ernest Lentz and Effie Sue Martin Lentz. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and later in the U. S. Air Force during Korea and Vietnam. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Ruth Sweeney Lentz of Columbia; a daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Dr. Joseph Hensley of Hohenwald; a brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Louise Lentz of Columbia; two granddaughters, Jenna Hensley and Jada Hensley of Hohenwald; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Rachel Lentz and three brothers, Harold Lentz, Fred Lentz and Gordon Lentz. Active pallbearers are Tommy Lentz, Mike Lentz, Terry Dawson, Jerry Sweeney, John William Sweeney and Mike Sweeney. Honorary pallbearers are nurses and staff of the Alzheimer's Unit at Life Care Center.
