James C Malugin

James Clinton Malugin, 85, retired employee of Union Carbide and resident of the Santa Fe Community, died Monday, July 14, 2008 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Thursday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Brother Jack Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Santa Fe Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.Memorials may be made to Santa Fe Cemetery Fund c/o Norman Harris, 3929 Sowell Hollow Road, Columbia, TN 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. He was married fifty-five years to the former Elizabeth Hines Malugin who preceded him in death on January 27, 2000. The Hickman County native was the son of the late David Crockett Malugin and Maude McCanless Malugin. Mr. Malugin retired as crane operator after thirty-five years service at Union Carbide. He was a member of Santa Fe Baptist Church. Survivors include four daughters and his sons-in-law, Betty Jo & Andy Thomason of Columbia; Naomi Humphrey, Martha & Kenneth Scott, and Donna & Larry Tarkington, all of Santa Fe; grandsons, Kevin (Amy Konz) Scott and Nathan Tarkington, both of Santa Fe; granddaughters, Candi Scott (Rodney) Adams of Santa Fe; April Tarkington (Jason) Bobb of Columbia; great grandchildren, Morgan Scott, Summer Scott, and Colby Adams, all of Santa Fe; and Ethan Bobb of Columbia; three sisters, Cora Lee Beard and Clara Slaughter, both of Columbia; Viola (Jerome) McCord of Santa Fe; five brothers, Leonard (Mildred) Malugin of Hickman County; Boyd (Helen) Malugin and Thomas (Helen) Malugin, both of Santa Fe; Paul (Clara) Malugin and Leslie (Ruby) Malugin, both of Columbia; brother-in-law, Wesley Roberts of Santa Fe; and brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Ralph & Clariece Ussery of Columbia. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Elizabeth Gale Malugin; two grandsons, James Clinton Thomason and Phillip Andrew Thomason; and one sister, Willene Roberts. Pallbearers will be Kevin Scott, Nathan Tarkington, Rodney Adams, Jason Bobb, Calvin Scott, Wayne Scott, Reddick Scott, David Scott, and Tim Scott. Honorary pallbearers will be his sons-in-law who aided in his care, Andy Thomason, Kenneth Scott, and Larry Tarkington.
