James P Mccandless Sr

Mr. James Patterson McCandless, Sr., 66, retired security guard at Heil Quaker and resident of Luke Moser Road in Columbia, died Sunday, January 1, 2006 at Crockett Hospital in Lawrenceburg. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Cotton officiating. Burial will be in Welch Cemetery in Marshall County. The Maury County native was the son of Nettie Holt McCandless Berry of Columbia and the late Fleming S. McCandless. In May of 1960 he married Norma Fay Pruett McCandless who preceded him in death April 14, 2003. He attended Cross Bridges Baptist Church. Mr. McCandless was an avid fisherman and loved spending time with his family. In addition to his mother he is survived by a son, James P. "Pat" McCandless, Jr. of Columbia; three grandchildren, Chris McCandless, Dustin McCandless, Kelly McCandless all of Columbia; five brothers, Lanny McCandless of Athens, Alabama, Roy McCandless of Culleoka, Harry (Peggy) McCandless of Ethridge, Carnell (Sheila) McCandless of Lynnville, Jerry McCandless of Columbia; three sisters, Faye (Eddie) Estes of Columbia, Bonnie (William) Dale of Lewisburg, Linda Smith of Spring Hill; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Eddie Dale, Michael Hedrick, Phillip McCandless, Kevin McCandless, Randy Hedrick and Brent McCandless. Honorary pallbearers will be Tracy Smith, Josh Smith, Timothy McCandless, Terry McCandless and Ricky Hedrick.
