James Perry Medkiff, Sr., 79, retired sheet metal mechanic with Air Conveying Corporation, died Wednesday, September 13, 2006, at his residence in Millington, Tennessee. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Clay Baggett officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Friday from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Lighthouse Fellowship Assembly of God in Millington. Survivors include his wife, Judy Dickinson Medkiff of Millington; two daughters, Pamela Renee Medkiff of Millington; Jenine Lynn Medkiff of Ontario, Oregon; two sons, James P. (Mary) Medkiff, Jr. of Nashville; Jeremy D. Medkiff of Goodlettsville; four sisters, Lota Young, Virginia Norman, and Joan McKee, all of Columbia; Virgie (Aubrey) Shelton of Murfreesboro; one brother, Jasper Evans (Olga) Medkiff of Miami, Florida; nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Faye Attkisson, and one brother, Ewell F. Medkiff. Pallbearers will be members of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19.
