View Tribute Video View Funeral Webcast James “Pete” Paul Green, 80, lifelong resident of Maury County, died Thursday at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Terry Peery officiating. Burial will follow in West Point Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 2:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials can be to West Point Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1533 Theta Pike, Columbia, Tennessee 38401. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born February 18, 1940 in Columbia, he was the son of the late Howard Ray “Tot” Green and the late Verdi Glick Green. On December 24, 1981, he married Peggy Jean Murry Green who preceded him in death on July 29, 2019. Mr. Green worked as a patrol man for the Columbia Police Department for 30 years, a security guard for Maury Regional Medical Center for 15 years, and as a chef for Stan’s Restaurant in Columbia for 20 years. He loved to cook, take care of others, and spend time with his beloved poodle, Tiny Princess Green. If you ever came to visit, you never left without being fed. Mr. Green was a member of the West Point Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his sons, Barry (Karen) Clark, James “Jimmy” Green, Donald Green, and Jamie (Ann) Reed; grandchildren, Brady Green, Sarah Green, Hunter (Kylee) Reed, Emerald (Tyler) Austin, Skyler Reed, Anna Marsh, and Ethan Clark; great grandchildren, Everleigh Reed, Lake Austin, and Sophia Austin; siblings, Joe (Judy) Green, Jerry (Brenda ) Green, Howard (Ann) Green, and Linda ( Jimmy) Hosse; step-sons, Larry Kent (Donna) Younger and Van Kurt (Beverley Jean) Younger; step-grandchildren, Josh Younger, Nicole Sullivan, Laura Cothran; six step-great grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Green; and step-son, Howard Keith Younger. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
