James Reid Burgett, 77, retired employee of Stauffer Chemical Company, farmer, and resident of Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday at Maury Regional Medical Center. A private family graveside service will be held at Polk Memorial Gardens. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born April 27, 1942 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Earnest W. Burgett and Mollie Mae Maxwell Burgett. On February 1, 1962, he married Evelyn Rochelle Burgett. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he loved spending time with his kids, granddaughters, and great grandchildren. Mr. Burgett was a member of the Locust Street Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Rochelle Burgett; son, Jimmy (Angela) Burgett; granddaughters, Carrie (James) Beuerlein; Jamie (Will) Hutson, Jenny (Daniel) Thomason, and Rachel (Randy) Horn; great grandchildren, Heith, Cole, and Railynn Hutson, Levi and Tyler Horn, Asher and Callie Beuerlein, Keleigh and Karleigh Thomason; brothers, Jackie Burgett and Donald Burgett; several nieces & nephews; and his beloved pets, Sam and Bandit. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Parker; and brother, Charlie Burgett. Active pallbearers will be Will Hutson, James Beuerlein, Randy Horn, Daniel Thomason, and great grandsons.
