View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast James Dalton "Jim" Rodgers, 74, retired employee of Monsanto, died Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at his residence on Zion Road in Maury County. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 P.M. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Melinda Britt officiating. Inurnment will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home and Saturday from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M. at First United Methodist Church. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born March 4, 1942, in White County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Eustace J. Rodgers and the late Ruth Davis Rodgers. Mr. Rodgers earned a Bachelor's degree from Tennessee Tech. He served in the U. S. Army from 1966 - 1968, receiving a Letter of recognition of Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Sharpshooter Badge. Mr. Rodgers retired as Cost Accountant from Monsanto Chemical Company. He enjoyed raising and training walking horses, was a member of Maury County Horseman's Association, Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders Association; and was past chairman of Columbia Spring Jubilee. He was a member of the National Accounting Association. Mr. Rodgers was a member of First United Methodist Church and had served with The People's Table. Survivors include his wife whom he married February 16, 1980, Bonnie Moore Rodgers, of Columbia; daughters, Rebecca (Wes) Witherow of Columbia; Melissa (Rob) Jurbergs of Memphis; son, Shannon (Robin) Rodgers of Lawrenceburg, Indiana; grandchildren, Kiley Rodgers, Cassidy Rodgers, Eric Jurbergs, Ryan Jurbergs; mother-in-law, Lil Moore of Columbia; mother of Melissa and Shannon, Kay Rodgers of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Ford; and brother, M. B. Ausban. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Jenkins, Chip Moore, Mica Fleming, Lucas Fleming, John Fleming, Dan McEwen, William Goats, Kevin Kizer, and past and present staff of The People's Table.
