Mr. James Russell Watson, 74, retired self-employed roofer and resident of Peach Orchard Road in Culleoka, died Friday, October 12, 2007, at NHC Columbia. A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Sunday at Friendship Cemetery with Rev. Clark Albright officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 11:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Malcolm Russell Watson and Naomi Whitaker Watson. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Maudie Elaine Beard Watson of Culleoka; two daughters, Mary Alice Conner and Mary Elizabeth Watson, both of Lawrenceburg; two sons, James Adam Watson of Culleoka; Mark Allen Watson of Columbia; three step-daughters, Sheila Ann (David) Smithson of Mt. Pleasant; Joy Prince of Pulaski; Sherry (James) Pratt of Culleoka; one step-son, Jeffrey Ambrose of Summertown; two sisters, Katherine Kendell of Mt. Pleasant; Betty Cox of Columbia; four brothers, Doris (Polly) Watson, Joe (Lady) Watson, Larry Watson, and Buddy Watson, all of Columbia; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; ten step grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons, Bobby Watson and Ray Watson; one daughter, Dorothy Cates; two sisters, Mildred Owen and Dorothy Watson; and one brother, Ernest Watson. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
