Jamie Wade Mr. James "Coach Jamie" Paquin Wade, 77, retired teacher and coach, and resident of Double Branch Road, died Thursday, January 29, 2004 at NHC Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. David Sawyer officiating. Burial will be in Wilkes Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 3 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Davidson County native was the son of the late Harry Wheless Wade and Kathleen Baker Wade. He was a graduate of Hillsboro High School, received his Bachelors degree from Vanderbilt University and his Masters degree from Peabody. During his career in education Mr. Wade served on the Williamson County Board of Education, as principal of Fairview School and was Home School Coordinator at Columbia Central High School. He coached both football and girls' basketball at Franklin, Hartsville, Gallatin, Jasper, Pulaski, Orlando, Florida and Tavares, Florida. He served in the 3rd Army Battalion during World War II under General George Patton, fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was part of the Liberation of Auschweitz. He was a member of Spring Hill Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Helen Hume Wade of Columbia; one daughter, Mrs. Kathleen (Tommy Yasko) Wade of Knoxville; two sons, James Paquin (Kimberly) Wade, Jr. of Houston, Texas, David Turner Wade of Columbia; one brother, Harry Wheless Wade, Jr. of Nashville; four grandchildren, Matthew Rieger, Philip Rieger, Katie (Jason) Rogers and Abbey Nicole Wade; one great-grandchild, Hayden Rogers; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Bentley Wade and a sister, Milbrey Wade Lively. Pallbearers will be Earl Kato, Tommy Runyon, Steve Peden, Charles "Wildcat" Butler, Jack Harlow, Ricky Swayze, Keith Jones, Matt Rieger, and Philip Rieger. Honorary pallbearers will be Teammates from 1946 - 1949 at Vanderbilt, Philip Parrish, Jerry Brady and John Coleman.
