View Funeral Webcast Jan Elizabeth Babb Tate, 70, resident of Maury County, died Thursday at NHC Columbia. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in accordance with Governor Bill Lee’s Executive Order No. 22, a private service will be held at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Greg Daimwood and Barry Babb officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Mount Cemetery. A public memorial service will be held at a later date. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born July 18, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late James Dexter Babb and the late Sara Elizabeth Sewell Babb. On November 29, 1969, she married Thomas “Butch” Tate. She graduated from Central High School in 1967 and received her nursing degree from Columbia State Community College. Mrs. Tate worked as a LPN at Maury Regional Medical Center and also Harpeth Terrace. Mrs. Tate enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, and she was a member of Ephesus Church of Christ. She is survived by her husband, Thomas “Butch” Tate of Columbia, TN; sons, Todd (Sandi) Tate of Columbia, TN and Jason Tate of Santa Fe, TN; brother, Barry (Camille) Babb of Spring Hill, TN; sister, Donna (Dr. John) Brown of Columbia, TN, Denise (Harold) Ware of Memphis, TN, Suzanne (Keith) Moore of Colorado, and Lisa (Tommy) VanFrank of Memphis., TN; grandchildren, Thomas Zachary Tate, Haden Tate, Bailey Elizabeth Tate; great grandchildren, Maddox Tate, Molly Tate, and Cruz Tate; and several nieces & nephews. Pallbearers will be Tim Huckaby, Mike Goldman, Danny Hill, Dennis Beaver, Zack Tate, Haden Tate, Bailey Tate, Andrew Riley and Steve Brown.
