Mrs. Jane Murphy Dean, 92. long-time resident of Nashville, died August 10, 2007 in Nashville. A memorial service will be conducted Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Hillsboro Church of Christ with A. M. Burton officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 a.m. to service time. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Maynard and Kate Dugger Murphy, graduate of Columbia Central High School, David Lipscomb College and attended the University of Tennessee in Nashville. Mrs. Murphy was a long-time active member of Hillsboro Church of Christ, Associated Ladies of Lipscomb, and West Iris Garden Club. One of the first female real estate agents in Nashville, she was first associated with Haury & Smith and later Patterson Contractors. Earlier in her life, she pursued careers in teaching and radio broadcasting. She was a devoted wife, mother, and wonderful Christian lady. Her husband of 50 years, William M. Dean, Sr., preceded her in death December 13, 1989. She is survived by a son, Dr. William M. "Ken" Dean, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia and a granddaughter, Susan Dean and husband, Itay, of Washington, D. C.
