View Funeral Webcast Mrs. Jane Marie Helmer Wells, 73, retired seamstress for Creekwood Incorporated and resident of Park Plus Court, died Thursday, January 21, 2016 at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 4:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Brian Talley officiating. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 2:00 - 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born December 15, 1942 in Herkimer, New York she was the daughter of the late Robert James Helmer and Alice Ida Green Helmer. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and volunteering at Joseph Brown Elementary School. Mrs. Wells enjoyed crafting and working Sudoku puzzles. She was a member of Christ Fellowship Church. Survivors include her sons, Harold Joseph (Carol) Springer of Ilion, New York; Joseph L. (Anna) Springer and Frank (Beth) Springer both of Columbia; daughters, Bessie (Everett) Reynolds of Coldbrook, New York; and Char Anderson of Columbia; step-son, Darrell E. Wells, Jr. of Columbia; brothers, James (Fern) Helmer of Mohawk, New York; Kenneth Helmer of Laurel, Maryland; Harold Moss of Frankfort, New York; twelve grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husbands, Harold Joseph Springer, John Anderson, and Darrell Earl Wells, Sr.
