Mrs. Janet Anita Barnes Howell, 70, retired employee of Heritage Manor/Columbia Care and Rehabilitation, and resident of Morningside Lane, died Monday, October 4, 2004 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m., Thursday, at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Anthony Collins officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late William Milton Barnes and Sadie Florence Stewart Barnes. On March 23, 1959 she married Samuel Gifford Howell who preceded her in death December 1, 1999. She was a 1953 graduate of Central High School. Survivors include one daughter, Margaret (Jason) Paisley of Columbia; one son, Roger (Sharon) Howell of the Sawdust Community; two grandchildren, Candace Howell of Columbia and Travis Howell of Sawdust; two sisters, Louise Nichols and Elizabeth (Richard) Dugger both of Mt. Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Clayton Barnes. Pallbearers will be Travis Howell, Jason Paisley, Mack Emmitt, Richard Nichols, Chris Bridges, Bobby Ray Emmitt, Jason Sykes and Ricky Howell. Honorary pallbearers will be friends, workers and Dietary staff of Heritage Manor/Columbia Care and Rehab.
