View Video TributeView Funeral Service WebcastMrs. Janet Barber Lindsey, 58, pharmacist and resident of Edenburg Drive, died Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 1 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Wendell Robinson and John Vaughan officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The daughter of the late Hugh O. Barber, Jr. and Dorothy Berry Barber, Mrs. Lindsey was born in Russellville, Kentucky and reared in Springfield, Tennessee. She attended UT Martin and later graduated from UT Health Science Center in Memphis with a degree in pharmacy. On May 1, 1976, she married William David Lindsey, also a pharmacist, and in 1977 they moved to Columbia, Tenn., after buying Reynolds Drugs. After her time at Reynolds, Mrs. Lindsey worked as a pharmacist at Liberty Clinic Pharmacy in Centerville for 20 years. Mrs. Lindsey was very active in the community and was a member of several civic organizations, including the American Association of University Women. She was also an alumni of UT Martin Chi Omega sorority. She was a member of Graymere Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School for many years. Mrs. Lindsey was devoted to medical missions work in Panama on behalf of her church. She will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Jason (Amy) Lindsey of Columbia, Scott (Leigh) Lindsey of Nashville, Houston (Brooke) Lindsey of Lynchburg; step-daughter, Laura (Mike) Skillern of South Haven, Mississippi; grandsons, Jackson Lindsey of Lynchburg, Tyler Martin of South Haven, MS; granddaughter, Lindsey Martin of South Haven, MS; sister, Liz (Joe) King of Springfield, Marti (Joey) King of Murfreesboro; nephews, Joe Donald King of Springfield, Michael (Caitlin) King of Bowling Green, Kentucky; niece, Sarah Elizabeth Street of Murfreesboro; and stepmother, Sarah (Wayne) Wyrick of Clermont, Florida. Pallbearers will be John Lindsey, Mark Lindsey, Mitchell Lindsey, Ron Cooley, Joe King, Joe Donald King, Michael King and Joey King.The family suggests memorials to Graymere Church of Christ Foreign Missions, 1320 Trotwood Avenue, Columbia, TN 38401.
