Janie Ruth Chapman Yocom

Mrs. Janie Ruth Chapman Yocom, 61, died Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at her residence on Mapleash Avenue. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. David I. Bradley officiating. Burial will be in Reese's Chapel Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late John Franklin Chapman and Dorothy May Cates Chapman. She attended Mynders School. On July 14, 1972 she married Tommy Ray Yocom of Columbia, who survives her. Mrs. Yocom loved to work in her garden and with her flowers, was an avid fan of NASCAR, and loved her dog, "Baby". She was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors in addition to her husband include her son, David (Tammy) Adams of Columbia; granddaughter, Brianna Lynn Adams of Columbia; and grandson, John Michael Andrew Adams of Columbia. Pallbearers will be Gene Hight, Scotty Lynch, Michael Lynch, Anthony Lynch, Dale Cates and Rudy Cates. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Lynch, Clay Hopwood, R.P. Williams and employees of R.P. Williams Co.
