View Funeral WebcastJean Corley Harlan, age 87, long time resident of the Williamsport Pike died peacefully on May 26, 2017 at Maury Regional Hospital surrounded by her family.Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with her family and Reverend Rick Elsey officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday from 3:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. and Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. She graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a degree in Home Economics. Following graduation, she moved to Columbia, TN to work with the University of Tennessee Extension Service. She was active in the Young Farmers and Homemakers where she met her future husband, Jones Edward Harlan. They ran the family farm together and upon his untimely death in 1975 she continued to run the farm with her children. She was a member of the Cosmopolitan Book Club, Friendship Women's Club, Farm Bureau Women, and James K. Polk Association. She was a charter member of West End Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School class.She is survived by her four children, Edward Corley Harlan of Columbia, Howard Allen Harlan (Jennie) of Columbia, Gayle Harlan Parrott (Mike) of Nashville, Patrick Jean Harlan (Julie) of Columbia and seven grandchildren George Anderson Harlan (Meghan) of Columbia, Jennings Harlan Ragan (Taylor) of Nashville, Caroline Harlan Castellaw (Steven) of Greeneville, SC, Ann Corley Harlan of Nashville, Katherine Oakes Harlan of Columbia, Madeline Eleanor Harlan of Columbia, Noah Hill Parrott of Nashville, and many beloved nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband, Jones Edward Harlan, parents Robert Nixon and Rebecca Hancock Corley of Lebanon, her infant daughter Rebecca Joy Harlan, her brother Dan Corley and her daughter in law Carolina Anderson Harlan. Active Pallbearers will include Andy Harlan, Noah Parrott, Gary Corley, Don Harlan, David Harlan, Mac Orr, Robert Harlan Scott, Steve Sharpe, and Carson Sharpe.
