Jean Chesnut Horne, 90, long-time resident of 5th Avenue, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at NHC Hillview. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Clay Derryberry officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Rose Hill Cemetery Association, P. O. Box 1015, Columbia 38402. She was a member of West 7th Street Church of Christ. Her husband, Thomas Vaden Horne, died June 11, 1973. Survivors include sons, Barry Horne of Florence, South Carolina and Joe (Sue) Horne of Columbia; sisters, Mary (Tooter) White and Joann (Larry) Anderson of Columbia; brother, Billy Dean Chesnut of Columbia; grandchildren, Scott Horne of Montreal, Canada, Brad Horne and Steve Horne of Sunset, South Carolina, Mia Horne of Florence, South Carolina, Clint Horne of Columbia and Brett Horne of Murfreesboro, Tanoni (David) Houston of Alpharetta, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Emma Horne of Murfreesboro, Hannah Houston and Elliott Houston of Alpharetta, Georgia. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Barbara Sue Horne in 1949; sisters, Ervie Carpenter, Glenn Derryberry and a brother, Doug Chesnut. Pallbearers are George Horne, Jr., Brad Horne, Steve Horne, Clint Horne, David Lovett, Brett Horne, and Dr. Tony Ball.
