Jerry Milton Autry, 65, retired employee of American Airlines and resident of Bedford, Texas, died Tuesday, March 29, 2005, while visiting relatives in Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Curtis Dowdy officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Bread for a Hungry World, 6300 NE Loop 820, Fort Worth, TX 76180 or Christ Haven for Children, P. O. Box 467, Keller, TX 76244. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Davidson County native was the son of the late Leighton Clarence Autry and Edwina Carmack Faulkner Autry. He served in the U. S. Army. Mr. Autry retired in February 2003 with more than thirty-four years service with American Airlines as a supply clerk. He and his family had lived in the Bedford, Texas area for the past thirty-two years and was a faithful member and devoted volunteer at Richland Hills Church of Christ for twenty-eight years. He served on the Board for Bread for a Hungry World. Jerry was a wonderful husband, father and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his loving wife of thirty-four years, Carolyn Thornton Autry of Bedford, Texas; admiring son, Leighton Charles Autry of Bedford, Texas; brother, Harold (Claudia) Autry of Gallatin; three nieces and their families, adoring mother-in-law, Jewell Thornton of Columbia; and many caring friends and acquaintances. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Dodson, John Price, James Stofel, Larry Love, Mike Lyle, Tony Boyd, Mike Davis, Bill Helmstetler, Howard Walker, Frank Picarelli, Les Kingery.
