Jerry Bryan Johns, 84, resident of Columbia, died Monday, February 19, 2024 at his residence with his wife by his side.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Steven Douglas officiating.  Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.  The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to Riverside United Methodist Church 313 6^th Avenue, Columbia, TN 38401.  Online condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.

He was born September 28, 1939 in Maury County to the late Maynard Johns and the late Lula Mae Boatright Johns.  Jerry graduated from Columbia Central High School in 1959.  He worked for CANALCO for 20 years and retired from ICP in Lewisburg after 20 years.  Earlier in life he enjoyed fishing and was an avid NASCAR racing fan, later in life he enjoyed playing computer games.  Mr. Johns was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife that he married on April 27, 1967, Betty Woody Johns of Columbia; nephew, Barry Rankin of Columbia; great nephew, Steven Rankin of Columbia; and a special friend, Gwenn Jett of Culleoka.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Rankin.

Pallbearers will be Barry Rankin, Steven Rankin, Chris Woody, Gary Woody, C.J. Woody, and Chris Jett.   Honorary pallbearers will be Pam and Johnny Farmer, Carolyn and David Cheek, Linda Johnson, Linda Kelly and the members of Riverside United Methodist Church.
