View Funeral Webcast Jerry Lane Russell, 82, retired owner and operator of several Subway franchises, died Friday, July 3, 2020 at his residence in Columbia. A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 2:00 P.M. at Polk Memorial Gardens with Eddie Rogers officiating. Military honors will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family arrangements. The family suggests memorials to Vanderbilt Trauma Unit, 1301 Medical Center Dr Ste 3501A, Nashville, TN 37232, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Condolences may be extended on line at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born August 29, 1937 in Giles County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Forrest Russell and the late Beulah Owen Russell. He served in the United States Army from 1959-1962. An avid outdoorsman, he also owned his own excavating company for several years. Survivors include his sisters, Joann (Dean) Dickey of Columbia; Linda (George) Morris of Florida; brother, Richard (Martha) Russell of Campbellsville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Wanda Autrey; and brother, Willard Russell.
