Jerry Edward Prince, Sr., 71, mechanic, died Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at his residence on Rally Hill Road. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home concluding with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Inurnment will be later in Jones Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19, 812 Nashville Highway, Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born April 1, 1946, the Maury County native was the son of the late James Bernard Prince and the late Mary Evelyn Jones Prince Hardison. On August 26, 1971, he married Patricia Ann Wilson Prince who preceded him in death January 11, 2015. He served in the U. S. Army. Survivors include his daughter, Misty (Todd) DePriest of Spring Hill; son, Jerry Prince, Jr. of Columbia; grandchildren, Blake Edward Prince, Briana Michelle Prince, Paige DePriest, Bryston DePriest; sisters, Betty (Tony) Torcello of Meriden, Connecticut; Barbara Prince Harmon of Spring Hill; sister-in-law, Wanda (Mike) Griffin of Murfreesboro; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a step-son, Ronald Glen Dale; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy & Barbara Jean Prince. Honorary pallbearers will be David McMeen, Jason McMeen, Todd DePriest, Johnny Reese, Kevin Michael Reese, Kerry Austin, Layne Waldrum, Jimmy Dodson, Bill Sparks, "Grumpy" Hardison, Buddy Reese, and all the other "old farts" that knew and loved him.
