JESS GIDCOMB Jess Houston Gidcomb, 76, retired employee of the Maury County Highway Department and longtime resident of Mingo Branch in the Santa Fe Community, died Tuesday, September 23, 2003, at NHC of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Bill Connelly, Rev. Ezell Rose, and Rev. Jack Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Santa Fe Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 1212, Columbia, TN 38402. He was a member of Santa Fe Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Martha Pennington Gidcomb of Santa Fe; two daughters, Mrs. Pam (Gerry) Skillington of Athens, Alabama; Mrs. Nonie (Morgan) Machunze of Gallatin; and two grandchildren, Marie (Dave) Overman of Knoxville; Leah Marie Moore of Gallatin; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Charles Pigg, James Toungett, Bill Connelly, Steven Givens, Danny Fox, Chad Fox, Alan Fox, and Jimmy Humphrey. Honorary pallbearers will be Neal Wall, A. B. Pennington, John William Pigg, Dr. Gaylon Harris, David Wall, Mike Wall, Dewey Skillington, Wayne Stanfill, Wendell Pigg, Carolyn Skelley, Susan Toungett, Katie Duncan, and Oscar Priest.
