Mrs. Jessie Irene Martin Freels, 71, retired from Lasko Products and a resident of Old Highway 99 East, died Sunday, February 4, 2007 at NHC Hillview. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 12:00 Noon at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Harvel Stockard officiating. Burial will be in Moses Cemetery in the Thick Community in Marshall County. A native of Dearborn, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Martin and Grace Ella Lofton Martin Jackson. She was a member of the Baptist Church and loved sewing, quilting, and flower gardening. Survivors include her husband, Reid H. Freels of Columbia; eight daughters, Ruby (Derrick) Ervin of Columbia, Ollie Jean Parham of Smyrna, Gracia Foster of Columbia, Dorothy Freels of Knoxville, Patricia (Carl) Collins, Cheryl (Darrel) Wilson, Mary (David) Walker, all of Wartburg, and Barbara (Keith) Morley of Sacramento, California; four sons, Charles (Patricia) Allen of Lebanon, Charles (Freda) Freels of Coalfield, Dennis (Janice) Freels of Wartburg, and David (Teresa) Freels of Marlow; a sister, Frances "Teenie" Jackson Wagner of Wyandotte, Michigan; a brother, William Edward Martin of Wyandotte, Michigan; 28 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and an aunt, Ruby Lofton of Columbia. She was preceded in death by her step-father, Charlie Jackson; a son-in-law, Joseph "Pete" Foster; a great-granddaughter, Jolene Scribner; a sister-in-law, Madeline Martin; and a brother-in-law, Glen Wagner. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
