Jewell Harris Thomason

View Funeral Webcast Jewell Harris Thomason, 78, retired dental assistant and resident of Park Drive, died Monday, May 11, 2009 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at West Seventh Street Church of Christ with Randy Owens, Jeremy Butt, Jerry Elder and Ted Burleson officiating. Burial followed in Polk Memorial Gardens. The Spring Hill native was the daughter of the late George E. Harris and Ethel Langley Harris. She was a 1949 graduate of Spring Hill High School where she played on the basketball team for four years. She was a big fan of Pat Summitt and the Lady Vols. Mrs. Thomason was employed as dental assistant and receptionist first for Dr. James E. Woodard and later for Dr. Andy Woodard. She was a member of West Seventh Street Church of Christ for 33 years and taught the two year old Sunday School Class for 19 years. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Chesley Herbert Thomason; daughter, Julie Thomason; son, Stephen (Connie) Thomason; grandchildren, Matthew Thomason, Morgan Thomason; sisters, Mrs. Cynthia (Fred) Prince, Mrs. Mattie Lou Dalton; brother, George Douglas (Betty) Harris; sister-in-law, Marie Harris; and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to caregivers, Mrs. Corene Craven and Mrs. Sue Hawkins. She was preceded in death by her twin, Ewell Harris, 2 brothers, Charles Harris, Arthur Harris, and sister, Annie Dalton. Active pallbearers will be Matthew Thomason, Mike Kesler, Andy Hunter, Adrian Billingsley, J.B.Long, Ricky Clay, Mark Witherow, Dr. David Foster and George Umstead. Honorary pallbearers include Bob Martin, Dr. John Simmons, Dr. Andy Woodard, Dr. Tim Gordon, Dr. James Bomboy, Spring Hill Class of 1949, and past and present Elders & Deacons of West Seventh Street Church of Christ.
