Joann Barrett Johnson Coffey, 84, retired secretary for Columbia State Community College and a longtime resident of Cleveland and Columbia died Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A celebration of life service will be Thursday, September 26, 2024 at 6:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Alan Thompson officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the funeral home. A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 1:00 PM EST at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Cleveland, Tennessee.

Joann was born on August 20, 1940 in Cleveland, TN to the late James Barrett and the late Mary Naomi Orr Barrett. She graduated from Bradley Central High School in 1958. She was married to Bobby Lee Johnson in 1958 who preceded her in death on September 10, 2007. Joann was a very talented water color artist and a member of Bigbyville United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 17 years, L.M. Coffey of Columbia; three children, Kim Kirsch (Ron) of Brentwood, Karen Perrin of Mooresville, N.C. and Barrett Johnson of Columbia; six grandchildren Brooke Ward (Austin), Emily Perrin, Hunter Kirsch, Matt Kirsch, Katherine Johnson, and Baylor Johnson; three great grandchildren Brayden Ward, Macie Ward and Luke Ward; a step son, Michael Hay (Mary Jane); two step grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her first husband, she was preceded in death by her son Mike Johnson and a brother Bob Barrett.
