JoAnn Henson Thomason

JoAnn Henson Thomason, 79, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016 at her home in Columbia surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Dickey Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born November 13, 1936 in Mt. Pleasant, she was the daughter of the late James Raymond Henson and Octavia Crews Henson. JoAnn worked many years at Graymere Nursing Home and later retired from Maury Regional Hospital as Cafeteria Manager. She was a member of Ebenezer Cumberland Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Duel Wayne Thomason; daughter, Diane Mennuti; siblings, Jimmy Henson, Leon Henson, and Carolyn Chatman. Survivors include her son, Jerry Wayne Thomason; grandchildren, Brittany Lee Drust of Florida, Kendyl (Steven) Burzachiello, Deanna (Kris) Tjornhom, and Kristen Mennuti all of New Jersey; great grandchild, John Thomas Flesch of New Jersey; sister, Ruth McKennon of Mt. Pleasant; brother, Larry (Josephine) Henson of Mt. Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be Robby McKennon, Randy Brooks, Gary McKennon, Danny Ray Henson, Ricky Chatman, and Scotty Henson. Honorary pallbearers include Evan Chatman, James Chatman, Curtis Johnson, Jimmy "Boo" Henson, Arnold Grooms, Chris Boshers, Debbie Bassham, John McMillan, Jerry Davis, Debbie McNamara, Selena Miles, past and present employees of Maury Regional Medical Center Cafeteria.
