Mr. Joe Fletcher Brown, 76, retired lathe operator at Union Carbide Corporation and resident of the Bear Creek Pike, died Thursday, August 12, 2004 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Jack White and Ewing Neelley officiating. Burial will be in the Jones Cemetery. The Maury County native was the son of the late James Brown and Octie Derryberry Brown and served in the U. S. Army during World War II.He was a member of the New Lasea Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Genell Shires Brown of Columbia; two daughters, Carol Hodge of Columbia and Donna (Morris) Stutts of Highland, Texas; six grandchildren, Michael Baltimore of Columbia, Joe Hodge of Nashville, Tracie Miller of Clearlake, Texas, Jennifer Savage of Baytown, Texas, Dana Gallardo of Baytown, Texas and Elizabeth Stutts of Highland, Texas; seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers. Active pallbearers are Dale Ring, Tony Hie, Tom Bills, Billy Caldwell, Dwight Brown and Marlon Hendricks. Members of the New Lasea Church of Christ will serve as honorary pallbearers.
