Joe Winford Caudle, 73, retired from Monsanto Company after 31 years and Columbia Construction Company, died Sunday, June 29, 2008 at Maury Regional Hospital. Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Polk Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jeff Jacob officiant and Alita Jacob, violinist. Military honors at graveside will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Giles County native was the son of the late Everett T. Caudle and Lavonia Hickman Caudle. He was a 1953 graduate of Columbia Central High School and served in the U. S. Army. Mr. Caudle was of the Methodist faith. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Ann Fite, whom he married December 6, 1957; two sons, Joe San (Cindy) Caudle and Randy Hunter (Sundae) Caudle; 3 grandsons, Cameron Caudle, Hunter Caudle, Collin Caudle, and a granddaughter, Campbelle Ann Louise Caudle; a niece, Vicky Caudle (Jerry) Stanley; two nephews, Frank (Aloha) Caudle and John (Liz) Caudle; precious dog, "Jo Jo,"; and sister-in-law, Mary Jane Glasser. He was preceded in death by brothers, Archie Caudle and Everette Caudle and his wife, Janie Caudle; and precious dog, "Rascal". Active pallbearers are Buddy Martin, Bobby Fite, Buddy Harris, Russell Cothran, Barry Wood, Frank Caudle, John Caudle, Stanfill Farris, Eddie Delk, and Freddie Davis. Honorary pallbearers include Dr. Steve Simmons, Clifton Kelley, James E. Kelley, Royal Dickson, Bill Howell, Bruce Armstrong, Buck Wilson, Bernard Burns, John Ralph, Carl Saine, Grady Griggs, Todd Schultz, Tommy Bates, Bill Jones, Larry Johns, James Shoopman, Monsanto retirees, and coffee drinkers at Burger King and Hardee's.
