Mr. Joe Robert Flowers, 78, farmer and retired employee of Sears in Pulaski, died Monday, January 23, 2006 at his residence on Southport Road in Culleoka. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Wednesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Larry Benderman officiating. Burial will be in Glennwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Highland Rim, 2014 Elmer Pogue Drive, Columbia, TN 38401. On September 5, 1949 he married Fay Sims Flowers of Southport who survives him. Mr. Flowers served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of Bethel Church of Christ. Survivors in addition to his wife are two sons, Jerry (Diane) Flowers of the Campbellsville Community, Jimmy (Marquetta) Flowers of Southport; one sister, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (Don) Wiltshire of Titusville, Florida; four grandchildren, Mrs. Stephanie (Carl) Langford, Brian Flowers, Brandon Flowers, Mrs. Lacy (Paul) Stafford; and three great-grandchildren, Matthew Langford, Braxton Langford and Sophie Stafford. He was preceded in death by a brother, Horace Lee Flowers. Pallbearers will be Brian Flowers, Brandon Flowers, Carl Langford, Paul Stafford, Mike Flowers, Gary Sims, Joe Sims and Mike Sowell. Honorary pallbearers will be men of Bethel Church of Christ, Bubba Sims and Timmy Flowers.
