Joe Kyle Kilgore II, 58, died Thursday, December 12, 2024, at his Columbia, Tennessee home surrounded by his family. Joe was a longtime Columbia resident with a great love for art, historic preservation, and his community.
Joe was born on March 31, 1966 in South Pittsburg, TN to Joe Kyle Kilgore and the late Patsy Colvard Kilgore. He graduated from Marion County High School in 1984 and received his bachelor’s degree in business marketing in 1988 from Tennessee Technological University.
He most recently served as the Executive Director for the Maury Regional Health Care Foundation and previously owned a local business, The Kilgore Collection. Additionally, he served his community in many other ways, including serving on the Columbia Main Street Board, the Columbia Historic Zoning Commission, and was a founding member of Crossroads to Home. He also has held the position of chairman of the board for the Tennessee Arts Commission, and as an elder and deacon at First Presbyterian Church of Columbia.
Joe was passionate about historic preservation, design and loved a fun, day at the lake relaxing with his family and friends on the boat or on the dock. He loved beach trips with his family and searching for the perfect piece of antique furniture to complement his home.
Survivors include his wife, Carroll White Kilgore of Columbia; two sons, Joe Kyle (Emma Kate) Kilgore III and Adam Carroll Kilgore (Karsyn McCanless) both of Columbia; father, Joe Kyle Kilgore of Jasper, TN; granddaughter Mary Helen Kilgore of Columbia; two sisters, Libba Estep (Marc) Carter and Kayla Kilgore McGowan; two brothers in law, Bob (Tricia) White and Ben (Dee) White; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, December 16, 2024 at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church of Columbia, TN with Reverend Sarah Bird-Kneff officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Church Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Columbia First Presbyterian Church.
