Joe Glenn Morris

Mr. Joe Glenn Morris, 87, retired probation officer with the North Carolina Board of Parole, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Maury Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday in the High Street Chapel of First United Methodist Church. The family will visit with friends Saturday after 10:00 A.M. at the church. The Albemarle, North Carolina native was the son of the late Joe Clark Morris and May Blalock Morris. He was a graduate of Albemarle High School and attended the University of North Carolina. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was an Eagle Scout. Mr. Morris was a member of Oak Island Lodge 723, Oak Island, North Carolina, Live Oak Chapter 179 0.E.S., South Port, North Carolina, Oasis Shrine, Charlotte, North Carolina, Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, 32 degree, Winston Salem, North Carolina. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Columbia, TN. He was a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, Mason, Shriner and member of the North Carolina Sheriff Association. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Juanita Huneycutt Morris of Columbia; daughter, Linda Morris (Preston) Blackmon of Columbia; four grandchildren, Susan Jordan (Rick) Dyar, Paige Jordan Glenn, Kimberly King (George) Bennett, and Dr. J. Wayne King, II; eight great-grandchildren, Linda (Lindy) Kathryn Bennett, George Logan Bennett, Lillian King Bennett, Jordan Dyar, Grant Dyar, Caroline Dyar, Alijah Glenn, Jonah Glenn; and a sister, Kathleen Morris (Jerry) Long. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Morris Jordan, two brothers, Henry Jackson Morris, Eugene Taylor Morris and one sister Ramelle Morris Black.
