Mr. Joe Michael Thompson, 57, resident of Potter Drive, died Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at the Alvin C. York Medical Center in Murfreesboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 1p.m. Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor David Baker officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the Tennessee National Guard. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4 - 8p.m. at the funeral home. On May 10, 1974 he married Connie Lynn Oliver Thompson of Columbia who survives him. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans Association and was a volunteer with the Maury County Civil Defense. Mr. Thompson was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church. In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Amy Jo Thompson Blair of Columbia; two sons, Jeremy (Karie) Thompson, Jamie (Jessica) Thompson, Sr. both of Columbia; five grandchildren, Cheyenne Thompson, Michael Keith Blair, Hunter Blair, Alayna Thompson, Jamie Thompson, Jr.; one half-sister, Lelia McAdams of Nashville and one half-brother, David Thompson of Nashville. Pallbearers will be Phillip Parrish, Tim Moore, Darren Dugger, Donnie Blair, Harold Richardson, Jr. and David Tucker. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Vietnam Veterans Association, Jerry Johnson, Kevin Johnson and Terry Potts.
