Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. Joe was born in the Culleoka Community and lived there most of his life, moving to Columbia in recent years due to poor health. He enjoyed hunting , fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. When his children were younger, there was always a host of young people at their home who adopted him and his wife as surrogate parents, because they treated all of them in such a special way. As a young man, Joe saw a young lady named Lady Ann Crigger. They liked each other immediately, but her Dad wouldn't let them date. Joe patiently waited until she was 19 to ask her for a date. They were married December 20, 1958 and have been happy together all these years. Survivors include his wife, Lady Ann Crigger Watson of Columbia; daughters, Cheryl Dean (Mike Conner) Lake of Geraldine, Alabama and Sharon Diane (Johnny) Chapman of Williamsport; daughter-in-law, Melissa J.
