John Franklin Cochran

John Franklin Cochran, 83, retired heavy equipment operator for Monsanto and resident of Primm Springs, died Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Life Care Center of Centerville. 

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday August 25, 2024 at 7:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Glenn Richardson officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 P.M. until the time of service at the funeral home with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at Polk Memorial Gardens.

Born August 26, 1940, in Maury County, he was the son of the late Henry Ellis Cochran and the late Mary Frances Baker Cochran. He was a graduate of Spring Hill High School, was a farmer and proudly served his country in the United States Army. On August 30, 1963 he married Shirley Jean Layne Cochran, who preceded him in death on June 29, 2023. Mr. Cochran loved his family, and his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Shady Grove Church of Christ. 

He is survived by his daughter, Karla (Tommy) Harber of Chapel Hill; son, Greg (Michelle) Cochran of Primm Springs; grandchildren, Jonathon Harber, Brandon Harber, Garrett Cochran, Daveigh Cochran, Clay Hughes, and Victoria Hughes (Trillion) Marks; sister, Henrietta (Van) Ward; sister-in-law, Linda Cochran; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. 

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
