MR. JOHN D. COLLINS, SR. Mr. John Dee "Big John" Collins, Sr., 41, heavy equipment operator and resident of Newt Hood Road, died Tuesday, October 1, 2002 at St. Thomas Hospital. A memorial service will be conducted Thursday at 7:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Armstrong officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. The Maury County native was the son of the late Luther Richard Collins, Sr. and Helen Hood Collins. He attended Maury County schools and was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons, John D. Collins, Jr. of Columbia, Michael King and Jeff King both of Lynnville; three sisters, Shirley Fogg, Betty (Billy) Martin and Sandy Collins all of Columbia; one brother, Ricky (Lorrie) Collins of Columbia; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert "Buddy" Collins. Honorary pallbearers will be Tank Warren, Gary Ervin, John Braswell and David Fitzgerald.
