John David McAdams, 52, Assistant Director of Finance for Franklin Special Schools District, died Friday, August 3, 2018 at his residence on Old Zion Road. A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday at 4:00 P.M. at Polk Memorial Gardens with Reverend Mike Roberts officiating. A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday at 5:00 P.M. at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Lee Stevenson, Reverend Mike Roberts, and David Snowden officiating.  The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 3:30 P.M. until service time at the church. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born August 3, 1966 in Davidson County, he was the son of Robert Wayne McAdams and Barbara Jane Poplin McAdams. He was in the top 10 of his 1984 graduating class from Columbia Central High School. Mr. McAdams earned his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Vanderbilt University finishing 30th in his class and then earned his Master’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University. Mr. McAdams loved to read, was an avid Vanderbilt University Football fan, collector of memorabilia, and enjoyed gardening.  In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife, whom he married October 21, 1995, Beth Dennis McAdams of Columbia; daughter, Holly Kerr McAdams of Columbia; aunt, Jane Lasater of Birmingham, Alabama; mother-in-law, Nancy Jean Rayburn Dennis of Columbia; and caregivers, Jan Dixon; Cindy Himes; Katlyn Himes; and Nina Manire. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Alden Lee Poplin and Mary Ruth Kerr Poplin; and paternal grandparents, James Howard McAdams and Allie Grace McAdams. Honorary pallbearers will be his friends.
