Mr. John L. "Peanut" Hill Mr. John Leon "Peanut" Hill, 57, retired truck driver for Sequatchie Concrete Company, former Columbia fireman and resident of Centerville, died Monday, February 16, 2004 at Baptist Hospital in Nashville. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Sister Inez Jones and Meredith Westmoreland officiating. Burial will be in the Hilltown Cemetery. A native of the Santa Fe Community, he was the son of the late William Hill and Ruthie Laura Warren Hill and a member of the Emmanuel Church of Christ. Survivors include two daughters, Sheila Hill of Centerville and Meredith (Steven) Westmoreland of Columbia; a son, Greg (Annette) Hill of Galvaston, Texas; a sister, Rachel (Howard) Foster of Hampshire; two brothers, Leroy (Candy) Hill of Columbia and Thomas "Bill" (Brenda) Hill of Winchester; seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Hill. Active pallbearers are Steven Westmoreland, Tony Foster, Jeff Foster, Steven Hill, Craig Patrick, Blake Davis. Honorary pallbearers are Donald Staggs, Kim Johnson, Clairice Wells, Roy Lee Hill and the staff and members of the Place of Hope.
