Mr. John Vanleer "Jack" Johnson, Jr., 80, retired assistant maintenance engineer for Maury Regional Hospital and resident of 2nd Avenue, died Thursday, October 16, 2008 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Gary Wedgewood officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A native of the Williamsport Community in Maury County, he was the son of the late John Vanleer Johnson, Sr. and Frances Locke Johnson. He was a graduate of Columbia Central High School and attended Middle Tennessee State University. He was a long-time member of Riverside United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Bobbie Fitzgerald Johnson of Columbia; daughter, Pamela (David) Stacey of Murfreesboro; granddaughters, Brittney Stacey and Megan Stacey of Murfreesboro; and sister, Faye (Robert L.) Seals of Columbia. Active pallbearers are Jerry Hayes, Milton Hardison Anthony Hardison, Norman Hardison, Jr., Art Fitzgerald, and Mark Fitzgerald. Honorary pallbearers include Willie Lawler, Cleveland Walls, Jimmy Russell, and Carl Harris, Jr.
