John Leonard Lynn, 90, self-employed electrician, died Saturday, December 21, 2019 at his residence on Confederate Drive. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 10:30 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Jeff Kane officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born August 28, 1929 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Leonard Lynn and the late Viola Johns Lynn. On June 29, 1946, he married Helen Connelly Lynn who preceded him in death July 12, 2016. Mr. Lynn was known as handyman who could fix anything. For many years, he was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Over the most recent years, he has attended Westminster Presbyterian Church and shared his love of gospel music as a member of the choir. Survivors include his sons, Mike (Marcia) Lynn of Rockwall, Texas; Jeff (Susie) Lynn of Huntsville, Alabama; Darrell (Kim) Lynn of Leipers Fork; Alan (Suzanne) Lynn of Columbia; grandchildren, Aimee (David) Pratt; Christie (Barry) Carpenter; Cara Lynn (Ty Cobb); Katie Lynn (Chris) Pharaoh; John D. Lynn, Jr.; Jacob Lynn; Claudia Lynn; step grandchildren, Kelly Weschler; Nicole Peters; great grandchildren, Taylor Hardy; Brett Carpenter; Cole Carpenter; Ian Carpenter; Ryan Everett; Mady Everett; Elliott Hickerson; Spencer Pharaoh; step great grandchildren, Gabriel Weschler; Will Prater; Madeline Prater; Julia Robinson; great great grandchild, Ryman Hardy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond Lynn, J.A. Lynn, Sr.; and sister, Mary Barker. Active pallbearers will be Jacob Lynn, Ty Cobb. Barry Carpenter, Brett Carpenter, Danny Hardy, Dan Baena, John Hutchinson, Anthony Sims, and Robin Jack. Honorary pallbearers include members of Westminster Presbyterian Church Choir.
