John Walter Patterson John Walter Patterson, 87, retired employee of Stauffer Chemical Company and former longtime resident of Tenassee Trail, died Wednesday, January 14, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Jeff Jacob and Rev. Frank Smith officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. He was married to Catherine Williams Patterson of Thompson Station who preceded him in death on September 25, 2001. During World War II, Mr. Patterson served in the U. S. Army Air Corps as a B-24 Top Gunner stationed in Italy. He was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church where he was a charter member of the Ayres-Whitney Sunday School Class. Survivors include two daughters, Nancy (Bobby) Cummins of Manchester; Joann (Bob) Knight of Alexandria, Virginia; two granddaughters, Mary Cummins of Huntington Beach, California; Amy Cummins of Murfreesboro; three cousins, Dr. Frank G. Wilkes of Pensacola, Florida; J. Earl Gilbreath of Savannah, Georgia; Spencer Gilbreath of Tustin, California. He was preceded in death by one sister, Anne Hulme. Pallbearers will be Cam Anderson, Bill Royster, David Greenfield, Bronston Boone, Ray Hickman, Johnny Bratton, Johnny Satterwhite, and Clinton Gilbreath. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Ayres-Whitney Sunday School Class, Dr. Frank Wilkes, John Satterwhite, J. Earl Gilbreath, Jerry Battles, John Gilbreath, Ed Thomas, James Scott, Donald Scott, and Charlie Hinson.
