John Pogue

JOHN W. POGUE John William Pogue, 61, retired manager of K-Mart Pharmacy, died Thursday, August 1, 2002, at his residence on Katie Lane. Funeral services were conducted Saturday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Dawson officiating. Burial was in Moore Cemetery in Huntland, Tennessee. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, First Baptist Church in Columbia, or First Baptist Church in Huntland. The Franklin County native was the son of Ruby Stovall Pogue of Huntland and the late Grover Pogue. He was married to Donna Culberson Smith Pogue of Columbia. After his retirement from K-Mart, Mr. Pogue had worked for CVS Pharmacy. He was a member of Duck River Wood Turners. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by one daughter, Suzannah B. Pogue of Atlanta, Georgia; one son, John L. Pogue of Nashville; one stepdaughter, Amanda Smith of Johnson City; one stepson, Cody Smith of Columbia; one brother, Rex Pogue of Columbia; two sisters, Mrs. Susie (Steve) Sawrie of Chattanooga; Shirley Werley of Chattanooga; special aunt, Miss Cora Stovall of Huntland, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Forrest Parmley, Jeff Hubbard, Ted Huntley, Wilson Daniel, Carl Yaglowski, Bob White, Bob Nipp, Don Allen, and Roy Thompson. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Ben Gardner, Dr. Anthony Greco, Dr. Robert McClure, Doug Clark, Larry Majors, Charles Clark, Leon Clark, Roy Butler, and Burt Donaldson.
