John David "Bubba" Rea, 69, long-time resident of the Campbell Station Community, died Sunday, March 13, 2011 in Columbia. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Friendship Cemetery with Billy Ross Tankersley officiating. Military honors will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The Maury County native was the son of the late William Murphy Rea and Sarah Elizabeth Dugger Rea. He was a 1960 graduate of Central High School and in August 1960 he joined the U. S. Navy. He began his career with Bell South and retired from AT&T after more than thirty years of service and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Mr. Rea had a great love for his dogs and had a passion for raising horses and attending rodeos and horse shows. He was a member of Campbell Station Church of Christ. Survivors include three sisters, Patrice White (Reams) Vandiver of Lewisburg, Elizabeth Ann "Ishy" (Gene) Neelly of Peachtree City, Georgia, Jodie Rea Cashion of Columbia; one niece, Amy Vandiver Maddox of Murfreesboro; six nephews, David C. (Molly) Vandiver of Franklin, Douglas R. Vandiver of Murfreesboro, John Benjamin (Dana) Pennington of Columbia, Joseph David (Rebecca) Cardwell of Jacksonville, Florida, Adam A. Neelly of Georgia, Reese J. Neelly of Peachtree City, Georgia; and nine great nieces and nephews.
