View Funeral Webcast View Video Tribute John Robert Seaborn, 90, retired truck driver, died Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at his residence on Carters Creek Pike.Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Matt Travers officiating. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 1:30 P.M. at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors provided by the U. S. Navy Honor Guard. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born July 27, 1927 in Davidson County, he was the son of the late Harley Lawrence Seaborn and the late Laura Ann Sorey Seaborn. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II, stationed in San Diego and aboard the USS De Grasse. He served as President of the USS De Grasse Reunion Club and only missed one meeting in thirty-one years. He was a member of American Legion Post 88 in Donelson. He was a former ten-year employee of the Davidson County Highway Department and for over thirty-two years, Mr. Seaborn drove trucks for Hoover Motor Express and retired from Ryder Freight Lines where he had received an award for one million miles accident free. He enjoyed farming and being a junkologist; but above all, he cherished his family and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchild. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife whom he married March 7, 1947, Nina Elizabeth Osborn Seaborn of Columbia; sons, John Robert (Ruth) Seaborn, II of Coble, TN and Harley Douglas (Phyliss) Seaborn of Rock Island, TN; daughter, Patricia (Jerry) Henry of Lynnville; eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gilbert Douglas Seaborn. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
